After a Month-Long Break... otter chaos.

Hey everyone!

It's been a long while since I last posted - I took a break in January to focus on acting in La Ronde here at Virginia Tech. I am blessed to work with a fantastic cast - come see it! It runs through February 11, at 730 every night!

Besides that, my last semester at VT has started off well. My class schedule is relatively challenging, but easy to get through. I'm applying to law schools and jobs. Oh, and occasionally I have a social life.

Really, this semester thus far has been about figuring out the rest of my life. I'm on the brink of the 'real world,' as they call it... and I have no idea where I'll be a year or even six months from now. Should I be nervous? Sure. But I think I'll be ok.

I tend to revel in this kind of chaos. Otter chaos.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year! But first..?

Well, this will likely be my last post of 2011. It's been a heck of a year- I rediscovered this old blog and managed to post 64 times in the past months. I completed my last fall semester at Virginia Tech with straight A's, and managed to be in several fantastic shows.

I don't have a list of all the wonderful things from this past year- I'm no good at that. I only have a f things I'd regret not mentioning in this last post.

First, I was truly blessed to be a member of the Vt Theatre Department this past year. Y'all have given me some of my best memories, whether they be hanging out at someone's apartment on a random night (any night works, really) or working on a show with you. You are all dedicated individuals, fun to be around, and I'm happy to know you. Let's go into this spring semester and make some good memories.

Secondly, my good friend and mentor Grant Mudge is retiring from his position as artistic director at Richmond Shakespeare, for various reasons. This man truly inspired me to join the theatre community, and pursue acting and directing. I wouldn't be in theatre without him, and my life would be fairly boring, at best. Break a leg, Grant. I, and Richmond Theatre, will miss you.

Third, and lastly (but certainly not least) I want to thank my family and girlfriend for their support to get me through this past year. I know I have my moments, and they're not always pretty, but you are always there for me and have been for a very long time. Thank you Mom, Dad, and Mary.

Now that I've managed to get past those light items... Here's your moment for today:

How Many Construction Workers Does It Take...

Hey everyone!

December really has been a slow month for me, posting-wise. I've been very busy!

My buddies Cody Oher and Dan Fissmer came into town to get on set for Lincoln, in Petersburg. Cody crashed on my couch and Fissmer crashed on my floor for a few nights - had fun showing them around Richmond. Went to see "A Christmas Carol for Two Actors" at Richmond Shakespeare and "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" at Sycamore Rouge. Two great shows!

Also, finally saw Contagion - great movie. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Even better movie. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Best movie. Honestly, best movie I've ever seen. Go see it folks.

And here it is - your tiny moment of hilarity:

The Secret to Success

Hey everyone! It's been a very long time since I last posted.

What's happened? Let's see:

I took the LSAT's again - hope to hear back soon about whether that expensive process payed off this time. Last time I did well, but I really want to improve.

I was cast in La Ronde, a show going up at Tech in February, as the Count. I think it's going to be a great show! Remember that other show I was in? "Almost, Maine"? La Ronde is like that, only German and sexy.

I also went to the ACC Championship with Mary - it was a good trip, despite the loss to Clemson. BUT VT IS SUGAR BOWL BOUND!

There was another tragedy at Virginia Tech. A shooter killed a police officer during a routine traffic stop, and then went on to take his own life. The officer was Officer Crouse. He leaves 5 children and a wife behind him. The shooter was a Radford student, who had committed armed robbery several hours before. Responses to the shooting have ranged from sympathetic to Virginia Tech students, to incredulity that this happened at Virginia Tech. All I have to say is: We are Hokie Strong, We are Hokie Proud. Virginia Tech is a family, and we stick together.

The following Sunday (the 11th of December) I turned 21! Happy Birthday to me!

After that? I wrote 3 papers, took two exams, and am now home! My buddy Cody Oher is staying the weekend because he's in Spielberg's Lincoln in Petersburg, so it's good to see him!

And without further ado, the secret to success: (a swift kick)

What Happens When... You Mix Two Drinks at Starbucks?

So, this will mark my 3rd post in nearly as many days (highly unusual for me, right?)

Today was a pretty fun day - I visited my old high school and saw a bunch of my favorite teachers. It's weird - now that I'm graduated from there, they actually are kind of... cool. Blasphemy, right? I also got a chance to work out with my old wrestling team... I'm in much better shape now than I was then (and Coach pointed that out.) (Sorry Coach.)

After, I went to Starbucks with my girlfriend, and called my buddy Andrew (who recently began work as a barista in Blacksburg) to find out what I should get. He told me either to get a Peppermint Mocha, or a Caramel Brule Latte. Being indecisive as I was, I got both... in the same cup. Excellent drink.

In the meantime, watch this. It restored my faith and humanity, and was really touching. No, it's not supposed to be cute. It's supposed to warm your heart. Enjoy.

Harry Potter... as a Teen Comedy.

Hey everybody!

Classes for next semester have been posted. For the first time ever, I'll finally have a class with my lovely leading lady, Mary. (VT Theatre - can you guess what it is?)

So it's official - people are throwing VT around as a possible national championship contender in the BCS. This is cool. Hope we live up to our hype...

By the way... Words With Friends is very addicting. I need to go do something to get away from it... except it's on my phone, which I can't very well leave behind, can I? oops. Maybe I should go see a movie. Anyone have any good suggestions? Leave a comment below!

But seriously, the reason you clicked here was to see Harry Potter as a teen comedy. This is genius.

The Layover

Hey everyone!

So, Thanksgiving break is upon us. Next weekend Virginia Tech and UVA play for the Coastal Division title, the opportunity to play in the ACC Championship, and a shot at the Orange Bowl.

No big deal, right?

After a long November, it's time to lay back, relax, and eat some turkey. Oh, and memorize lines for VT's Theatre Showcase. And get props for Suburbia. So, essentially, let's get going again.

But seeing my folks again is fantastic. They really support me.

Normally, this is part where I drop a cool/cute/fun/lame video for your viewing pleasure. Instead, I give you 21 free songs, courtesy of Mike Posner.

PRESENTING: The Layover.
